Ashley Heating & Water's
Comfort Specialists

When you call Ashley Heating Air and Water for a heating or cooling installation, a repair, or a tune-up, you're inviting a professional into your home — someone who knows your system, respects your family, and stands behind their work. We take that responsibility seriously. Ashley calls our team the Doctors of Comfort — because that's exactly what they are: trained experts who diagnose problems, prescribe the right solutions, and deliver results that last.

Not every HVAC technician in Boise carries the same credentials. Ashley Heating Air and Water employs factory-trained, NATE-certified Trane Comfort Specialists — the people Trane considers the best-trained, most rigorously vetted HVAC professionals in the industry. Every member of Ashley's team goes through background checks, drug testing, factory training, and ongoing certification to maintain the highest standards in their field. That's what it means to be a Doctor of Comfort.

THE ASHLEY STORY: More than a century of service

Ashley-Companies-History

It started in 1910 on Main Street in downtown Boise, where Arthur E. Ashley set up shop and began hand-painting business names and logos on the windows and doors of local merchants. Arthur had an eye for what businesses needed to stand out — and when neon signs arrived in America, he brought them to Boise first. From that single storefront, something bigger than a business was taking root: a family tradition of showing up for this community, doing something no one else was doing yet, and doing it right.

Three generations later, that tradition hadn’t lost a step. Arthur’s son Ron Ashley co-founded Firebird Raceway in 1968, giving the Treasure Valley an institution it still loves today. In 1975, Ron founded Ashley Glass — windows, mirrors, shower doors, custom glass — a business now run by his oldest son Shon.

And in 1994, Ron’s second son Toby founded Ashley Heating, Air and Water, bringing the same family standard — integrity, craftsmanship, and genuine care for the customer — to the homes of Boise and Nampa.

Today, Canyon Ashley carries that standard as a certified Trane Comfort Specialist, with five generations of Ashleys in continuous business in the Treasure Valley. When we say we’ve been serving this community since 1910, we don’t mean it as a marketing line. We mean it the way only a family can — because this community is where our story began, and it’s the only place we’ve ever wanted to be.

What is a Trane Comfort Specialist

The Trane Comfort Specialist designation is Trane's highest dealer certification — and it is not handed out freely. Only dealers who meet Trane's most stringent annual standards qualify. Ashley Heating Air and Water has held this designation continuously, year after year, because Ashley's team consistently earns it. Here's what that certification actually requires:

Trane Comfort Specialist Requirements

To earn and maintain Trane Comfort Specialist status, Ashley Heating Air and Water must meet ALL of the following requirements annually:• Minimum 85% of directed equipment purchases must be Trane products — we are deeply committed to Trane's quality• Customer Satisfaction Score of 90 or above — measured by independent Trane consumer surveys• Minimum 85% customer referral rate on Trane consumer survey program — our customers recommend us• 100% written customer satisfaction guarantee on all Trane installations• Demonstrated commitment to employee training and technical education• Adherence to Trane's strict code of conduct emphasizing ethical business practices• Ongoing continuing education — Ashley's team trains on the latest Trane technology every year

Trane has named America's Most Trusted HVAC Brand for 12 consecutive years (Lifestory Research). Ashley Heating Air and Water represents that brand at its highest level — certified as a Trane Comfort Specialist, which means the people we send to your home have been trained to Trane's own standards, not just the general industry minimum.

Ashley Heating Air & Water's
Team Certifications & Training

NATE Certification — North American Technician Excellence
Many of Ashley's technicians hold NATE certification — the most widely respected third-party HVAC technician certification in the United States. NATE is supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). NATE-certified technicians have passed rigorous exams that prove their proficiency in HVAC installation, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting — well beyond the industry minimum. When Ashley sends a NATE-certified technician to your home, you're getting someone who has proven their competency independently, not just in-house.

EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Certification
Every Ashley technician who handles refrigerants holds EPA Section 608 Certification — required by federal law and enforced by the Environmental Protection Agency. This certification ensures proper handling, recovery, and recycling of refrigerants — protecting your equipment, the environment, and ensuring your system operates at its rated efficiency. It is not optional. Ashley holds this across our entire installation and service team.

Trane Factory Training

As a certified Trane Comfort Specialist, Ashley Heating Air and Water participates in Trane's ongoing factory training programs — conducted directly by Trane engineers on the latest equipment, installation techniques, and diagnostic tools. This is not general industry training. This is product-specific, hands-on education from the people who designed and built the systems Ashley installs. When new Trane products arrive — like the Premier 20 TruComfort variable-speed heat pump — Ashley's technicians are trained on them before they install the first one.

Idaho State HVAC Licensing

All Ashley installation and service technicians are Idaho state licensed — meeting the legal requirements for HVAC work in the state of Idaho. Ashley Heating Air and Water is fully licensed, bonded, and insured — so every job is done in full compliance with local code, and you are fully protected if anything unexpected occurs.

Background Checks and Drug Testing

Every member of Ashley's team — technician, comfort specialist, and installer — goes through a comprehensive background check and drug test before they are ever sent to a customer's home. This is Ashley's standard, not just a policy — it's a commitment to your family's safety. When Ashley sends someone to your home, you already know they've passed our screening.

Two-Stage Quality Audits

Every Ashley installation undergoes two independent quality audits — a second set of eyes confirming that the system has been installed to Trane's specifications, Ashley's standards, and Idaho code requirements. This two-audit process is above and beyond what most HVAC contractors do, and it's one of the reasons Ashley installations consistently perform at their rated efficiency from day one.
